Dancer

Alex is a native of California. She began training classically with Riverside Ballet Arts and Inland Pacific Ballet from an early age, with contemporary training at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, CA under Michele Jenkins. She was a member of the LINES Ballet Ensemble and Training Program from 2007-2009 where she studied with Alonzo King, Arturo Fernandez, Maurya Kerr, and Kara Davis, among others. She has been a freelance dancer in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as a member of Kara Davis’ project agora and Brian Gibbs’ TAGsf since 2008. With TAGsf, Alex has toured nationally and collaborated on original creations as well as produced performances in San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles. In 2011, Alex performed in Terra Incognita, Revisited; a collaborative piece by Alex Ketley, Katie Faulkner, Kara Davis, and Manuelito Biag which received the 2012 Isadora Duncan Awards for Outstanding Performance and Outstanding Choreography.┬áThe same year, she began the creation of Mother Tongue with Kara Davis and members project agora; a visual art, music, and movement improvisation in which international artists work to translate and connect the various ways each medium creates composition in real time. Mother Tongue has been shown in San Francisco as part of the Central Market Arts Festival, in the Museum of Performance and Design, as well as the American Dance Festival in North Carolina. In 2012, she began working with Kate Duhamel and Fountain 3 Films on original films shown in the San Francisco Dance Film Festival. Currently, Alexis completing her Bachelor’s degree with the LEAP program at Saint Mary’s College of California with the New York City cohort and is a member of BodyStories: Teresa Fellion Dance.
